FIVE MINUTE COOL & SCULPT TIPS

We've been talking a lot about cold therapy lately. It's one of our favorite tools for treating the skin in summer, as it helps reduce inflammation and calm irritation. Cold therapy is very effective for treating acne and can help reduce the appearance of pores. With all this in mind, this facial massage utilizes one of the simplest and most affordable ways to add a little chill to your skin care - cold spoons!


To prepare for this massage, simply place two metal spoons in your freezer to get them cold. If you know you'll be working for a bit, feel free to chill a second set of spoons or keep a bowl of cold water nearby to refresh them. A bit of your favorite facial oil is also recommended here, to facilitate glide.

THE FIVE STEPS

STEP ONE : UNDER THE CHIN - Using both spoons, support underneath your chin with one spoon and use your other to glide along the underside of your chin, all the way to the hinge of the jaw. This move is helpful for sagging skin around the jaw area to tighten, flush out excess puffiness and create a bit of natural lift. Use the curved underside of the spoon for all moves, as this will help your "tools" glide smoothly. STEP TWO : CHEEK LIFTING - Next, using the backside of both spoons, begin to alternate with a medium pressure motion that scoops inward lifts the cheek. (See video for a visual.) This move should feel especially nice for relieving tension around the mouth and in the jaw area. The release of tension should also help with naturally lifting and contouring the cheekbones. STEP THREE : JAWLINE LIFT - Similar to our first move, this move continues to work on the jaw area. This time, starting above the jawbone, brace one spoon at your chin. Use light pressure to glide along the jaw and out to the ear. This helps with lymphatic drainage and depuffing. You can also add a little wiggle or jiggle of your spoon near the end of each glide to really flush it out. STEP FOUR : EYE SOOTHING - The ultimate cooling and soothing move for tired or puffy eyes. Still using the back, curved side of the spoon, gently place it over the eye. You can pause here for a moment, if you like. Then, gently rock outward to the outer corner of your eye and begin to glide the spoon to your temple. Feel free to repeat this move as many times as you wish on each side. Never use heavy pressure around the eyes.


STEP FIVE : FOREHEAD SMOOTHING - Last, placing one spoon over at the center of the forehead, brace the skin and use your other spoon to glide out above the browline. Work up and down in sections to cover the whole forehead, moving horizontally with your spoon and working out toward the hairline. This move should also feel great for soothing tension in the forehead and tension-related headaches.

Five minute face massages to-glow are timed to be about five minutes long. There is no sound, so you can use this as quiet time or add your own soundtrack. Follow the moves in the video - about thirty seconds per move - on each side. Complete everything in five moves and five minutes. Repeat if if desired, or mix and match with other videos to really treat your skin. Be sure to check back every Friday for new videos!
