FIVE MINUTE CHEEK CONTOURING TIPS
The cheek area is one of our favorite areas to work with facial massage because it is very easy to see some instant lifting and contouring with just a little bit of attention. We love to do these moves before an event or having photos taken. It really helps bring out the natural bone structure and gives the cheekbones extra definition when applying makeup.
For this massage, we are using a simple gemstone tool. You can use any tool of similar shape or even the edge of your hand to mimic the tool, if you don't have one. A little facial oil is also needed here, but not too much. Just enough to facilitate glide.
THE FIVE STEPS
STEP ONE : NECK WARM UP - Before working any areas of the face, it's a good idea to first warm up the neck area. This will help stimulate lymphatic drainage, which is what we want in order to decrease excess puffiness in the face and create natural contouring. Using the notch end of the tool, you will perform long gentle sweeps starting at the base of the ear and gliding down to the collar bone area.
STEP TWO : CLEARING SWEEPS - Beginning to move up the face, we will then use the long smooth edge of the tool to continue to clear excess fluid with long gentle sweeps. Starting at the chin and working below the cheekbone, flush out to just below the ear. A little wiggle will also help stimulate drainage. Try to keep your tool at a 15 degree angle, close to the skin and use light pressure.
STEP THREE : CARVING OUT THE CHEEKBONES - This move really starts to define the cheekbones by "carving" them out. Once again using the long edge of the tool, start near the bridge of the nose and line your tool up, so that the edge creates a shelf for your cheekbone. Support the skin using your non-working and and use only enough pressure to gently lift and glide below the bone. Glide all the way out to the temples and repeat. STEP FOUR : PRESSURE POINT CONTOURING - This move follows the exact same trajectory of the last move. This time, however, we want to use the notch edge of the tool to create two little pressure points. Starting near the nose and working out, apply gentle pressure and hold briefly before moving outward. Once you reach the temples, return to the center of the face and repeat. STEP FIVE : SCULPT & SWEEP - We will finish by using the notch edge of the tool to hug the cheekbone and give it some final contouring sweeps. Lining your tool up to curve of your bone structure in the center of the face, and keeping a15 degree angle, gently glide to accentuate the cheekbone and carry it all the way to the temples to finish each sweep.
Five minute face massages to-glow are timed to be about five minutes long. There is no sound, so you can use this as quiet time or add your own soundtrack. Follow the moves in the video - about thirty seconds per move - on each side. Complete everything in five moves and five minutes. Repeat if if desired, or mix and match with other videos to really treat your skin. Be sure to check back every Friday for new videos!
