FIVE MINUTE JADE COMB MASSAGE TIPS

The jade comb is one of our favorite budget-friendly facial massage tools because it is so versatile. It helps lift, sculpt, infuse product and break up facial tension. It's also great for lymphatic drainage and scalp massage. Today's massage does a little of all of the above, with an extra emphasis on releasing facial tension.


Before beginning, apply a few drops of facial oil to the skin, to create a little slip. To really get into tight muscles, you can use medium pressure but always support the skin with your other hand. Optional hack: At the end of each move, jiggle the tool just slightly to really loosen up tension.

THE FIVE STEPS

STEP ONE : SPINE & NECK RELEASE - Because our neck holds so much of our stress, a move that feels amazing is to use the notched edge of your tool. Line it up either directly on or beside your spine. Pull upwards to the base of the skull and repeat several times before moving to the next section.


STEP TWO : JAW RELEASE - Beginning at the chin and holding your tool at about a fifteen-degree angle, glide the notch edge along the jawbone all the way out to the hinge of the jaw and wiggle. Take this move at a slow pace and slow down even more if you feel bumps or "crunchies" beneath the skin as you work.

STEP THREE : CHEEK LIFT & SWEEP - Using the smooth edge of the tool, glide up the side of the face as if to lift the cheek muscle and then sweep it to the side towards the temples. Glide smoothly and evenly with light pressure. This move helps flush out excess puffiness and provides a little release to the jaw area in the process.


STEP FOUR : BROW LIFT & RELEASE - Once again using the notched edge of the comb, start near the inner corner of the brow. Keep the tool at a fifteen degree angle as you lift the brow and glide out to the temple. The brows are an area that holds a lot of tension, so when we release that tension, an instant brow lift can occur.

STEP FIVE : COMBING THE SCALP - If you love a good scalp massage, this finishing move should leave you feeling instantly zen. Using the comb edge of the tool, begin at the hairline and comb the whole scalp, working from one side to the other and back again. You can vary your angle and/or pressure as your work and continue this move as long as it feels good.


Five minute face massages to-glow are timed to be about five minutes long. There is no sound, so you can use this as quiet time or add your own soundtrack. Follow the moves in the video - about thirty seconds per move - on each side. Complete everything in five moves and five minutes. Repeat if if desired, or mix and match with other videos to really treat your skin. Be sure to check back every Friday for new videos!
