FIVE MINUTE COLD ROLLER SCULPTING TIPS
Here at the Glowtocol, a summer trick we are loving is cold rolling! Cold therapy has many benefits for the skin including lymphatic drainage, reduced appearance of pores, puffiness, redness and inflammation. Acneic skin may become less irritated and inflamed. Additionally, it makes a perfect addition to your skincare for summer as it helps soothe the skin after heat and sun exposure.
For this massage you don't need any product but feel free to prep the skin with a bit of facial oil, toner or your favorite serum, as cold rolling will help infuse any product into the skin. If you do not have a cold roller, you can still benefit from cold therapy by chilling a gemstone roller or even spoons from your silverware drawer to perform facial massage.
THE FIVE STEPS
STEP ONE : NECK WARM-UP - Starting at the center of the neck and roll outward towards the sides of the neck in sections. Repeat on each side and aim to cover the whole neck area as you work up and down in a horizontal stripe pattern. This helps lift and firm the neck.
STEP TWO : JAWLINE SCULPT - Beginning at the chin, roll along the jawline and under the cheeks. Roll from the center of the face toward the hinge of the jaw. When you reach the hinge of the jaw, pivot the tool and roll down the neck. Think of your jaw hinge as the exit ramp and roll down to the base of the neck to promote de-puffing.
STEP THREE : CHEEK PLUMP & LIFT - The large cold roller is great for lifting and sclupting. Once again beginning at the center of the face, use the cold roller to lift the cheeks by rolling up in a zig zag pattern. You will want to butt the tool up against your cheeek bone as if "plumping" the cheeks. Work out to the temples and when you reach the temples, roll up to the hairline for a little extra lift.
STEP FOUR : UNDEREYE WORK - Because the eyes are delicate, it is ideal to use a smaller implement to do eye work. That said, cold therapy works wonders on undereye circles and puffiness. Roll the smaller tool from the inner corner of the eye, along the orbital bone and out to the temples. Use lighter pressure and be very gentle around the entire eye area.
STEP FIVE : FOREHEAD LIFT - Our last move should feel soothing for any forehead tension and provide a little extra lift for the whole face. Starting on or just above the brows, roll with medium pressure, all the way up to the hairline. Work in a vertical stripe pattern across the forehead and back for at least a minute, but feel free to stay here longer if you so desire.
Five minute face massages to-glow are timed to be about five minutes long. There is no sound, so you can use this as quiet time or add your own soundtrack. Follow the moves in the video - about thirty seconds per move - on each side. Complete everything in five moves and five minutes. Repeat if if desired, or mix and match with other videos to really treat your skin. Be sure to check back every Friday for new videos!
