HOW TO MASSAGE YOUR FACE FOR GLOWING SKIN


When it comes to glowing skin, facial massage is a game changer. Why facial massage? It seems like such a simple thing, but actually facial massage has many benefits for your skin. It can help naturally detoxify and rejuvenate the skin by encouraging lymphatic drainage and increasing blood flow to the skin.


You can perform facial massage anywhere, using just your hands, or turn it into a full-blown skincare ritual using a variety of tools. FIVE TIPS FOR AT-HOME FACIAL MASSAGE

1.) Incorporate a little massage every time you cleanse

One super easy way to sneak a little facial massage into your everyday skincare is by doing it when you cleanse. Our cleanse should always be the first step before applying any other skincare. So by taking the time to also massage the skin a bit while cleansing, we are ensuring that our skin is warmed up and prepped for the rest of our daily routine.


2.) Always start at the neck and work your way up

Our neck is the foundation of our facial massage because our neck is is what facilitates blood flow and nutrition upwards to the face, as well as detoxification draining downward from the face. A good way to imagine this is by thinking of your face as the flower and your neck as the stem. We want to take care of the whole system, in order to create changes to the skin and the face.


3.) Use lighter pressure

When we think of massage, we may think of deep pressure and tissue manipulation but that's not necessarily the goal with facial massage. One of the primary goals of our Glowtocol face massages is to encourage lymphatic drainage. Because our lymph system sits directly beneath the skin, we need only apply a little pressure to create our desired results.


4.) Perform each move 3-10 times on each side

Depending upon your mood and/or how much time you have, facial massage can be a quick 5-minute fix or a longer, more luxurious ritual. Both can be plenty beneficial. At a minimum, aim to perform one move three times in each zone - neck, chin, cheeks, eye/area & forehead - on each side of the face. Repeat each move more if you like but be sure to keep both sides even. Again, working with the intention of draining downward, we want to always massage outward from the middle of the face toward the ears, temples and the sides of the face.


5.) Use facial massage to infuse serums and oils

Because we never want to tug or pull on the skin, it is always a good idea to use some product to create a little glide on the skin. Just a few drops of facial oil works perfectly, or we also love to layer serums and oil together. If your skin gets dry while you're still massaging, you can re-up the moisture factor with a hydrating toner or facial mist. The act of massaging the skin, either with your hands or a tool, will infuse your products deeper into the skin for maximum benefits.
