HOW TO SHOW YOUR SKIN SOME LOVE THIS VALENTINE'S


It's nearly Valentine's Day! And here at The Glowtocol, we feel safe saying love is in the air... self love that is. Now, we're all about romantic love, family love, the love of your friends and our beloved pets too. However, around here, self love reigns supreme because we believe that without it, it's difficult to properly care for the people we love around us.


Perhaps not surprisingly, one of our favorite ways to practice self love is with a little extra self care. And maybe a side of skincare while we're at it. Whether you're celebrating V-day alone, on a virtual Galentine's date, or a romantic dinner with your sweetheart, we're here for it. Just don't forget to spread some of the love to yourself. Read on for our top Valentine's tips to treat yourself.

TIPS FOR LOVING ON YOUR SKIN THIS YEAR

1.) Indulge in a few extra steps

Not all days require a ten-step skincare routine, but there's no shame in treating yourself to one this Valentine's. You could gift yourself with an extra fifteen minutes to apply a hydrating mask or use your favorite gadget. Don't have fifteen minutes? Try five minutes and use them to do the steps in your beauty routine that you usually skip.


Spoil yourself with a little extra eye cream, a spritz of perfume or a bold lip. Or maybe all of the above. You deserve these moments of beauty and self care. So even if it's just for one day, don't cheat yourself out of them!


2.) Reconnect with the basics

If you've drifted a bit from your routine or are struggling in your commitment to your skincare, no sweat. A good way to approach your skincare might be to just start with the basics. Start with just a simple cleanse. Or a layer of moisturizer.


Spend time massaging your skin as you apply products, appreciate your own touch and the sensory experience of the product. If you feel up to doing more steps, applying a hydrating serum or facial oil is great. If a cleanse is all you can muster, stop there and don't beat yourself up. Your routine will always be there, when you feel ready for it.


3.) Treat your whole body to skincare

If you're like us, you probably spend a decent amount of time thinking about and caring for the skin on your face. However, in the pursuit of putting our best face forward, we sometimes neglect the other skin covering the entire rest of our body. Oops. No judgement here. But, if you're looking to treat yourself to some extra self care, you can't go wrong with a good body scrub or oil treatment or both. Body scrubs can feel very luxurious but are actually a very practical and effective treatment for getting rid of dead or dry skin. Body oils and creams are great to apply any time, but especially following exfoliation or shaving, to replenish lost moisture and leave the skin glowing.


4.) Bring the spa experience to you

Pampering yourself doesn't have to be expensive or require a trip to the spa. With just a few simple rituals and meaningful touches, you can easily replicate a spa experience in the comfort of your own home. We love a little mood lighting, scented candles and putting on the perfect playlist. P.S. Before tossing your Valentine's flowers, consider adding them to a hot bath. They make a for an extra special touch that costs next to nothing.


5.) Massage your face

Although we advocate for massaging your skin just about every day of the week, we realize it doesn't always work out that way. That said, Valentine's Day makes a perfect excuse to sneak a little in.
